    Health Precautions & Exposure

I am currently supporting one family 2 days a week in Newton (Mon, Thu) both mom and dad are working from home and hardly leave the house. I am happy to get tested if it makes the family feel more comfortable. One of my kids is in childcare and they are monitoring cases carefully. If there is any news of exposure or symptoms I will alert the family as soon as possible.

    Introduce yourself!
Hi there! I'm Rachel I am a certified labor and postpartum and infant care doula providing services in Boston, Eastern MA, and Rhode Island. As a doula, I provide emotional, physical, and educational support to mothers who are expecting, experiencing labor, or have recently given birth. I live in Millis with my husband and two kids 4 yo and 1 yo. We love hanging out as a family especially outdoors and in the summers take trips up to Maine and down to the Cape. I worked as a project manager for a construction consulting firm in downtown Boston. I fell into this practice because of having kids of my own and dealing with postpartum anxiety and depression. This experience along with my educational background in clinical psychology has made so passionate about changing the birth experience and postpartum for women in the US and making sure every new parent has the support that they need!

How do you help new parents?
As a postpartum and infant care doula I work with families who've recently had a baby, and help them navigate the often overwhelming and emotional challenges of life with a newborn so that they feel more informed, have the necessary resources, and are supported and cared for along the way. Usually the first day I care for a new family, we’ll sit down and go over what exactly they want so that moving forward we have a plan for what they want each day. I'm also happy if mom makes a list and lets me know what she needs!

Why did you pursue this career?
I started babysitting at a young age and continued to care for children of all ages even after I graduated from college. It was not until I had children of my own that I realized I had a passion in caring for newborns, but most importantly caring for the mother. So many wonderful changes happen when you have a baby, but I also learned that it can be incredibly challenging and overwhelming, especially during the first few months. I am here to advocate for you, encourage you to be the best version of yourself, and to help guide you along the way during your pregnancy, birth, and the beginning stages of motherhood. Together we can do this!

    Testimonials

I’m in my first pregnancy and due with twins. I was honestly on the fence about getting a doula at all — I just wasn’t sure what to expect — but I’ve really enjoyed working with Rachel. She is extremely responsive and reliable, and always responds to my questions both quickly and with a lot of depth. She is compassionate and understanding and has always been accepting of my birth preferences.

As an additional source of recommendation, my partner has commented on how comfortable I am talking to Rachel about anything, and how she can keep me engaged for long periods. I agree!: I always intend to respect her time but we do often end up chatting for a while, and she has always been available and open to our needs.

I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone looking for a doula to reach out to Rachel! She is insightful, helpful, reliable, and compassionate.
