Health Precautions & Exposure
Currently working as a nanny for a longer term family. Open to working for only one family if together we can make the hours work. Very open to getting tested before starting with a new family.
I’m a seasoned birth worker with over 13 years experience caring for new families and their little ones. I trained as an EMT but then transitioned into nanny work and postpartum care and have been doing this type of work for the last 14 years. I have three children of my own (three boys) so I know how tough it can be! When I find some spare time I absolutely love reading.
How do you help new parents?
I love helping new and repeat parents find their new rhythm while making sure parents feel supported and that they have a source of guidance during those very hard first weeks.
Why did you pursue this career?
I started my career as a nanny and in working with a few families with newborns found my love of birth/ postpartum work. I began by certifying as a Newborn Care Specialist, then Postpartum/Birth, and most recently trained in the Asian postpartum tradition of “Sitting the month” — or zuo yuezi.
“We brought Karla into our home to care for our newborn son at night when he was only a couple days old. Immediately , I knew I was dealing with a true professional. She handled the baby with such tremendous care and gave me tips and advice to have him get a sounder sleep. I would go to sleep at night having every confidence that my son was in perfect hands with Karla. And as a new mom with a newborn and a toddler , getting a good night sleep was the only way to survive! I cannot recommend Karla enough to all new parents”

“Karla cared for my 6 week old baby until he was a little over 3 months old. She was really great with him, and she made sure I got my night’s rest. She was very smart and capable, and went above and beyond to help me find a day nanny as well when she transitioned. I would absolutely recommend her!”

“It was absolutely wonderful to get Karla’s help with our baby boy right in the middle of his 4 month sleep regression. As a new mom who was extremely sleep deprived, I found it was challenging to find the right types of help for both relieving some night time child feeding responsibilities and finding the right approach to cultivate the good sleep habit for the baby. I had talked to many night nurses and agencies. I felt fortunately that I found Karla. She was extremely emphatic with my situation and is very knowledgeable as an experienced childcare provider. She was my thought partner in figuring out the potential causes for the sleep regression, trying to eliminating as much factors that can be controlled by us as possible. She helped me make the right choice on sleep training so I feel that we made the right decision for the baby’s health and our sanity. During her night watch duty, she was always very diligent, being with the baby and providing the support and response promptly…”
