Currently only offering in-home visits for follow-up visits if they are required.

What's a visit with me like?

A typical visit will depend on the issues and goals of the family. Visits are usually 90-120 minutes in length. Typical visits include taking a detailed history, discussing the current situation, observing and assessing a feeding, including intake assessment, and coming up with a plan going forward. I pay particular attention to having a plan that feels manageable for all. Other visits will focus primarily on either the parent or the baby, depending on the situation. When you book with me, I offer support via secure messaging for an unlimited length of time. This covers most basic questions, though there are issues that will require further observation and a follow up visit.

Describe your philosophy towards breastfeeding and feeding.
I have a comfortable, down-to-earth approach. I aim to put families at ease, and let them know I’m on their side and working for them. I don’t look to meet anyone else’s agenda but their own, and my primary goal is to help clients have the breastfeeding experience that they are seeking. I bring a solid background in lactation, with years of experience, but I love to learn new approaches, skills, etc. This is an evolving field, and it's important to continue expanding my knowledge and abilities.

What is your favorite part of working with new parents and infants?
I love helping families tailor a plan to help them meet their unique goals for breastfeeding. Sometimes it involves a lot of thinking outside of the box to come up with something that works. I find that incredibly rewarding. I also really like being able to help them in their own home, where they are most comfortable, and where they are doing most of their breastfeeding, be that via telehealth or in-person.

Describe any particular areas of expertise related to feeding

“Heather was warm, calm and caring. Even though the visit was virtual, I immediately felt a sense of comfort with her. She was so reassuring and helped me figure out a plan, with next steps in place as well. She asked so many questions to get to know me and my baby and I felt like she truly cared about our well-being. I cannot recommend Heather enough!”
