    Health Precautions & Exposure

    Introduce yourself!
Hello! I’m Dashanna Hanlon and I’m excited that you’re interested in learning more about me! I became certified as a birth and postpartum doula because I want to help women feel empowered from the first moments of motherhood. My work as a postpartum transition specialist started after stumbling through a couple of postpartum transitions of my own. I moved to Boston in 2011, after getting a Bachelor’s degree in English and Gender Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. I married my favorite Massachusetts native (Tom) five years ago. Our sons Lucas (2.5 yrs) and Isaiah (1 year) light up our world! We also have an 85-lb German Shepherd named Ulysses. Our house is loud but full of love. I love jazz music and I used to sing professionally!

How do you help new parents?
I aim to ease the burden on families during their transition into parenthood. My best advice for new parents is... it happens. Whatever it is; milk didn't come in - it happens! Baby has colic - it happens! You're a great parent; you're not an anomaly and you're never alone in this!

Why did you pursue this career?
I was inspired to pursue this career after giving birth to my first son and going back to work. Both were hard in such unique ways, ways common for many women. I felt that I had something to offer others after learning so much in my own experiences. My goal is to make sure that other parents feel supported as they embark on this journey into parenthood.

“Dashanna is incredibly easy to talk to and has been a fantastic resource for support, tips, and advice while navigating life with two young children as a full-time working mom. Life is busy and crazy and she is a wonderful advocate for doing what’s best for your home life, work life, and everything in between.”

“Dashanna assisted with the birth of my second child during her doula training. She was attentive and caring – a calming and bright presence that was so nice to have welcoming our daughter into the world! We were happy to have her in the room.”
